NCISD Police Officers Participate in Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training

ALERRT’s mission is to provide the best research-based active shooter response training in the nation in order to save lives and protect communities.

On June 12-13, 2023, 精选麻豆二区 ISD police officers participated in Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) through Texas State University at Porter High School. The objective of ALERRT is to provide the best research-based active shooter training in the nation in order to save lives and protect communities.

精选麻豆二区 ISD officers received level one training, taught by 精选麻豆二区 ISD Sergeant Jacob Ladwig and Corporal Jason Potter, who are certified level one instructors in the ALERRT program. Level one is a dynamic training designed to prepare officers and first responders to isolate, distract, and neutralize an active shooter, including how to approach a school, move within a hallway, enter rooms, and communicate. Officers practiced highly researched methods of how to respond and engage from the minute the police department receives the alert of an active shooter to the moment the threat is neutralized and students and staff have exited the building.

ALERRT emphasizes the importance of research and studies multiple facets of active shooter response and law enforcement best practices in order to create their training programs. ALEERT at Texas State University has been named the National Standard in Active Shooter Response Training by the FBI, and continues to conduct research in order to determine and develop best practices for officers in high-stakes situations.
